It is an opportunity to meet up with fellow professionals and swap notes and ideas over drinks and pizza.
All Filmakers: This is a group for low or no budget independent film makers meeting at the South Bank and other venues.
Film & TV Professionals in London: This is a group for people who work in the film and TV business and those who would like to. The aim is to share professional knowledge and to organise talks from professionals in the industry. Other events include casting calls for film/tv jobs, film clubs and social networking. The meet in central London venues.
Finchley Film Makers: This is a group of non-professional film makers based in Finchley, North London. They have a range of artistic and technical skills and make films for fun rather than profit. They welcome anyone interested in film making regardless of their experience or age. Their annual programme is packed full of interesting events and workshops, including lectures from prestigious guests, hands-on workshops, masterclasses and challenges and competitions. They meet fortnightly at the Quaker Meeting House in North Finchley.
Greenwich Screenwriters Group:
The Greenwich Screenwriters group is a creative writing support group which aims to help people develop screenwriting skills for both film and TV. The Group is all about writing and reading screenplays and developing essential writing skills, such as developing the perfect log-line and making sure that stories hold water. This group aims to write for international screenwriting competitions. They also welcome actors who enjoy reading around a table and who can help screenwriters really hear how their dialogue sounds in the mouths of others. They meet in Greenwich.
IndieFlicks Short Film Screening, Brick Lane, E1: Meeting on the 1st Wednesday of every month, they bring a selection of shorts from around the globe. IndieFlicks runs the same programme of films across all their cities (Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield) creating a large national audience. You can vote for your favourite film on the night and have questions answered by special guests. With drink available from the bar all night, it’s a chance to network with fellow creatives.
Kino London: A group for London’s indie film making scene. Welcoming both experienced and those finding their feet, they hold regular screenings, classes and provide production opportunities. With a broad spectrum of work being continuously developed by their members which they screen on a monthly basis. Each of their events is a “genuine reflection of the current output of London filmmakers, established and emerging.” They hold an ‘open mic’ screening night where anyone with a short film to show (under 6 minutes) can get it shown – sight unseen as well as various talks and workshops.
London Film Industry Professionals Meet-up: This group provides networking opportunities over drinks for Directors, Producers, Writers, Agents and more – enabling people in the industry to connect with each other. The group meets in central London.
London Indie Filmmakers: This group is for those who are in the world of indie filmmaking, be that writing, directing, producing or acting in independent films. The intention of the group is to get together to share experience, create contacts and perhaps make films together.
London Motion: This group aims to build a community of Motion Graphic Designers, Animators, Modellers and Video Editors. They talk about design techniques, principles and methods and offer career advice for people just starting out. They regularly hold talks and presentations in different studios around London.
North London Filmakers: All types of film-makers are welcome to join this group. They welcome all skill levels in any capacity whether you are a producer, actor, writer, director, cinematographer, editor or just interested in filmmaking. Whether you are professional or just thinking about making your first film, this group aims at sharing knowledge and information and mentoring the less experienced or learning from those that know more.
