Albany, Deptford SE14  ( seats 300) The heart of Deptford, and I’m not just talking location. Has turned the Arts Council funding they received into a hugely engaging Arts Centre programme. Literally something for everyone. Look at the schedule for everything form Circus to Spoken word, Community to Professionals, the lot.  New Cross tube, Deptford NR 

BROADWAY LEWISHAM Theatre, Catford SE6 ( seats 800, 80 in studio) Mainly more Fringe work with the occasional Touring show. The Panto is a highlight. Broadway Blazers and B-T Tots groups are for old and young to get involved. Worth a look if your a local. 5 minutes Catford Bridge , Thameslink  

BROCKLEY JACK pub Theatre , Brockley SE4 ( seats  50) Great little community theatre. Offering drama, Scratch nights, writers workshops. The Write Now Festival is particularly of interest, allowing emerging talent to be programmed in their studio through-out the year Crofton Park Thameslink   

 CHURCHILL Theatre , Bromley  ( seats 785) Quite a big venue, so you’ll get a good mix of touring shows, Comedians on the road and Music, either Tributes of Musicals. Surrounded by shops but you might need to travel slightly further for some good grub /7 minutess Bromley South , Thameslink  

ERITH PLAYHOUSE ( seats 195) Musicals, Farces and Panto, a short walk from the Thames. Not much by way of food in the venue so you’ll have to delve into Erith instead  7 mins Erith NR  

 GREENWICH Theatre  ( seats 420) Concentrating on the Grass Roots of the creative industry, Greenwich theatre aim to inspire and facilitate the next gen of artists. Some great family shows, mixed with a little Shakespeare and Dance. Great workshops for kids can be had.  5 minutes  Greenwich DLR

THE LONDON THEATRE, New Cross SE14  ( seats 50) Many classes to be had, from stand-up to acting. Offering some pretty standard fringe theatre too, this is a great place for people to start cutting their paths in the Arts 2 minutes New Cross tube

OVAL HOUSE  , Kennington SE11 ( seats 200 downstairs , 70 upstairs ) Renowned for their work with creatives. That, combined with their eternally diverse and relevant programme, this is a top venue with a lot to offer. The food and drink offerings tend to be on point here too. 2 minutes Oval tube

 SOUTH LONDON COMMUNITY THEATRE, Norwood SE17  ( seats 96 and 60)  A repertory style non-professional Theatre. A fair bit on offer here but would say the most interesting aspects being the inclusion possibilities. Open auditions, membership available, easily accessible  West Norwood NR

SOUTHWARK PLAYHOUSE , SE1  ( seats 240, studio 120 ) Settled in nicely to their new home, providing a few in-house shows, a platform for some cracking theatre company and heaps of opportunities in an Arts Centre style set-up. Food and drink on site are delicious. Top Off-wested venue.   Elephant and Castle tube and NR 

 SPREAD EAGLE theatre pub, Croydon   ( seats 50) This is a Fullers Pub, with a Theatre attached. They tend to have a few performances a month, more variety, cabaret style entertainment. Classic British Pub Grub to be had.    East Croydon NR
